Is Chinese massage deep tissue?
Traditional Chinese Medicine, also known as TCM, includes a deep tissue Chinese massage, along with other therapies such as Chinese Herbs, Cupping, Moxibustion and Tai Chi. Cancer, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis, and many more are some of the diseases that are treated with Tui Na in hospitals in China.
It is also used as an alternative to traditional Chinese medicine in the United States, where it is known as “Chinese Herbal Medicine” (CHM).
The Chinese word for “tui na” literally means “deep tissue massage” and refers to the deep tissues of the body, such as muscles, tendons, ligaments, bones, cartilage, blood vessels, nerves, skin, etc. The term is often used interchangeably with “Tai Chi” or “Qigong” in Western medicine, but the two are not the same thing.
In fact, there are many different types of tui-na, each with their own unique healing properties.
How much clothing do I take off for a massage?
We will leave the rest of your body bare if we need to, and we will ask you to remove all clothes from your top half if necessary. You will be asked to lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor.
You will then be instructed to take a deep breath in through your nose and hold it for a few seconds. This will help you relax your muscles and allow your heart rate to slow down. Once you are relaxed, you will begin to inhale and exhale slowly.
As you do this, your chest will rise and fall, and you may feel a slight tingling sensation in your arms and legs. Continue to breathe in and out slowly for 10 to 15 seconds, until you feel the effects of the drug wear off. If you experience any side effects, stop taking the medication immediately and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
Why is Chinese massage so good?
Unlike Deep Tissue or Sports Massage, which focus on releasing tight muscular knots by targeting blood flow to the area, Chinese Massage techniques also aim to release tight muscle knots. The technique is based on the idea that tight muscles are more prone to injury than loose muscles. Tight muscles tend to contract more easily, and are therefore more likely to be injured.
Loose muscles, by contrast, contract less easily and have a lower risk of injury. This is why Chinese massage is often referred to as “soft tissue massage” or “massage with soft tissue” because it focuses on soft tissues, such as the muscles and tendons, rather than the hard tissues of the body, like the bones and ligaments.

What is Tui Nai?
The term tui na means “pinch and pull” and refers to a wide range of Traditional Chinese Medicine therapeutic massage and body work. It is not usually used for pleasure and relaxation, but as a treatment to help the body heal itself. Traditional Chinese medicine has been practiced for thousands of years in China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and other Asian countries.
In the United States, TCM is often referred to as Chinese herbal medicine (CHM), Chinese traditional medicine, or Chinese complementary and alternative medicine. However, the term “Chinese medicine” is a misnomer, as it does not include all of the traditional Chinese medicines that are available in the U.S. today.
For example, there is no such thing as “traditional Chinese” acupuncture, which is based on the belief that the human body is made up of a series of acupuncture points. Instead, acupuncture is used to treat a variety of conditions, including pain, inflammation, muscle spasms, headaches, insomnia, depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), and many other conditions.
Is Chinese massage good for back pain?
Although often recommended, the potential efficacy of massage therapy in general, and Chinese massage in particular, for relief of chronic low back pain, has not been fully established due to a lack of randomized controlled trials. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for the treatment of CLBP.
We searched the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), MEDLINE, EMBASE, CINAHL, PsycINFO, SPORTDiscus, Web of Science and the reference lists of retrieved articles. The search strategy was based on the following keywords: “acupuncture”, “chiropractic” and “chinese medicine“. We included RCT studies that compared acupuncture with sham acupuncture or no treatment.
Studies were included if they reported the effect of the intervention on pain, disability, function, quality of life, patient satisfaction, cost-effectiveness and adverse events. A random-effects model was used to calculate pooled odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). We assessed the risk of bias using the funnel plot and Egger’s test.
What is the difference between a Chinese and Thai massage?
Thai massage is concerned with balancing the energy of the body, mind and spirit. Unlike the Chinese system, Thai massage does not have a theoretical background. It is based on the principles of natural healing, which are the same as those of Ayurveda. In the traditional Thai system of massage, the practitioner uses his or her hands to massage the patient’s body.
The hands are used to stimulate the meridians, or points of energy that flow from the head to the feet. These points are known as chakras, and they are located at the base of each vertebrae, between the spine and the pelvis.
